The webs future UI …
What you just saw is a Qwiki about Qwiki, a new online service. With the release of the alpha version of Qwiki, I guess we are seeing not just a cool online encyclopedia service, what Qwiki really brings to the table is a new UI for many forthcoming services, a UI we’ve seen so far only in science fiction movies.
Right now Qwiki is tapping into sources like Wikipedia to answer search requests, but that’s just the beginning. I can see Qwiki or a Qwiki-style service to be the UI for many things we use today.
So, not that Qwiki is perfect, but it already generates ideas about what could be possible in terms of retrieving and visualizing data on the web or any device with a screen and/or audio. I can see a lot of other startups picking up here and moving this to the next level.
And of course we need a name for that sort of stuff. Qwiki itself calls it “information experience”, but I think that’s too unspecific. Any ideas …
